A Step to Uncover the Hidden Antibiotic Potential of Cannabis

On February 4, 2020, a new study published in ACS Infectious Diseases found that a non-psychoactive cannabis compound called cannabigerol (CBG) has antibiotic potential against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (MRSA) infections in mice.

Researchers found that CBG is able to target the cytoplasmic membrane of Gram-positive bacteria.
