New Autism Genes Are Now Identified. A Big Step Towards Autism Treatment.

Autism is a developmental disorder characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. There is no known single cause for autism spectrum disorder. Ongoing researches are trying to figure out the genetic basis of autism.

On February 06, 2020, a novel study published in the international journal Cell identified 102 new genes implicated in risk for autism spectrum disorder. The results of this study could provide a better basis for understanding autism.

It is expected that the findings of the study will have great impact on the treatment of not only Autism, but also other psychiatric disorders in the future.
