A New Study on the Stability of SARS-CoV-2 in Different Environmental Conditions

SARS-CoV-2 is very stable at 4°C but vulnerable to heat (70°C), according to a study published in The Lancet on May 1, 2020. On day 14, researchers discovered an almost 0-7 log-unit drop in infectious titre at 4°C, while the duration for viral inactivation was lowered to 5 minutes at 70°C.

They also discovered that the virus may be highly stable in a favourable environment, with a wide range of pH values (pH 3-10) at room temperature, but it is also sensitive to typical disinfection treatments.
